No, I did not make a mistake in the title. Yes, John MacArthur was on TBN about a year ago and, if you know anything about MacArthur and his comments in the past about TBN and their "preachers", instantly the two coming together brings thoughts of hell freezing over.

And, much like in his Larry King appearances, MacArthur holds no punches and it was very refreshing to hear a pure Gospel message proclaimed on this network for once. However, on the flipside, this video also sent chills down my spine. Not in what MacArthur says, but from the standpoint of the audience--both in the studio and who faithfully watch TBN regularly. For instance, I sat there wondering how many viewers of this program--who had been going to church for years--were hearing the true Gospel for the first time? I wondered how many people were unaware of the fact that this could be the only time they hear the true Gospel of Jesus Christ? And, finally, I wondered how many people--who are truly not saved but under the impression they are--would go away, not moved at all by the words of the Gospel, and would return to their churches and continue under their false profession, only to find out on the last day they have been duped and will spend an eternity in hell.

Truly, I was very happy to see MacArthur on TBN and blessed by how God used Him. And my prayer is that God will use the seed of this program (and those like Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron's) to draw His elect out of darkness into the marvelous light of His Son and our Savior, Jesus Christ.

TBN is a global TV network with many programmers from a wide range of denominational backgrounds. One of the criteria for airing a show on TBN is that a programmer cannot spend more than 1.5 mins. trying to raise money, which of course, is necessary for anyone that buys TV airtime. Christian TV is no different. There are 2 fund raising events on TBN, and all the other Christian TV networks, each year. Usually in the Fall and Spring. This is when TBN raises money to pay for their global network. They do not allow people to buy advertising on their network, so fund raising and the money that programmers pay for airtime, are the ONLY source of income. TBN is the 6th largest broadcast network in the world (bigger most of the secular networks like ABC, NBC, Fox etc.) I'm not sure how people expect them to support this massive network for 'free'. Airtime and satellites are extremely expensive. I actually have some of John MacArthur's audio books, which I enjoy. I am somewhat surprised by his very slanted, and in many cases, inaccurate portrayal of TBN. He is demonizing an entire TV network, which has programs from conservative denominations, full gospel churches, Jewish and Catholic churches. TBN also has 4 other networks which are really great. JCTV for teens, Smile of a Child for kids, TBN Enlace for Hispanics, and The Church Channel, which is 24/7 church services (from all kinds of churches). I think John MacArthur's article is actually very disappointing, and divisive. Why can't the 'church' respect the differences that the many denominations have when it comes to how they worship?
